Please read VENDOR.TXT for Shareware Information and Disclaimer. The ARCHV###.ZIP file contains the following files: ARCHIVES.EXE The MAIN PROGRAM. ARCSETUP.EXE Required to configure Archives.EXE and until Archives is registered, the user must run ArcSetup first to pass a non-registered password to Archives.EXE. If you are not registered, always start up ArcSetup.exe FIRST so Archives gets the password from ArcSetup. Launch Archives from ArcSetup's "File + Run Archives" Menu command. You only have to configure Archives once; but until registered, you will always have to launch ArcSetup then launch Archives from ArcSetup's menu. ARCHIVES.HLP Archives Windows Help system file. ARCH.BAT DOS Batch file used to run PKUNZIP, etc. ARCH.PIF Windows PIF file used to execute ARCH.BAT Misc Files: README.TXT Quick Start up notes. REGISTER.FRM Registration form. VENDOR.TXT Disclaimer and Shareware Information. CHANGES.TXT Lists changes between versions. ARCHHELP.WRI Windows write version of ARCHIVES.HLP. The ARCHIVES.HLP file was intended to provide the primary help text; however, this file will be improved in future versions. For Registered users only: ARCHV286.EXE A Protected Mode version of Archives. Compiled in the 286 Mode. ARSET286.EXE The setup for ARCHV286.EXE None of the above files must be in your path statement. If you copy these files to the same short directory name, you can skip the rest of this document until you decide that you require additional options/details. If Archives.HLP is not in your path statement, then it must be in the same directory as Archives.EXE. ArcSetup.EXE MUST be in the same directory as Archives.EXE until you are registered. After you are registered, ArcSetup needs to be in Archives directory only when reconfiguring your system. If the two ARCH.* files are not in your path statement, then you MUST confirm the location of these two files when you run ArcSetup.EXE and they must be located in a directory where their directory+names is less than 30 characters. Arcsetup.EXE will warn you if there is a problem. The two ARCH.* files can be in different directories, however, the ARCH.PIF must have the directory location of the ARCH.BAT Run ArcSetup.EXE first. Until you register Archives, it is easier & faster to run ArcSetup first. UNREGISTERED users can save their configuration, but ArcSetup.EXE must pass a PASSWORD to Archives.EXE so that the UNREGISTERED version will work. Archives.EXE will warn you if you forget. This annoying feature is directly related to optimizing the Registered Version for registered users and developing a back door method so that Unregistered Users can use Archives. Once the application is REGISTERED, then ArcSetup.EXE can be ZIPPED away somewhere. You'll need ArcSetup.EXE only if you change the location of your files.
